3 BENEFITS OF A SIMPLE SPRING WARDROBE
I love love love having a small, simplified wardrobe, but it hasn’t always been this way. For most of my life, I was pretty convinced that I needed all the things. But over the last few years, I realized that I only needed and loved a fraction of what was hanging in my closet.
Downsizing my wardrobe and an extensive shoe collection took work. It’s been a slow, gradual process to get to this point. In many ways, it was like saying goodbye to really good friends. But as tough as that sounds, I found that the benefits of downsizing outweighed my unhealthy attachment to stuff just sitting in my closet.
Read on for the 3 reasons I love my simple wardrobe so much.
01. HELPS CLARIFY YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
Simplifying your wardrobe by editing clothes you don't love or feel great in allows your unique personal style to come to the forefront. When you weed out the clothes that don't work for you, the remaining items will help create a blueprint of your style preferences. Look at what's left. Take note of the silhouettes, colors, fit, and materials you love wearing, and feel great in, which ultimately helps clarify your personal style.
02. REDUCES STRESS & GUILT
Believe it or not, things like buyer’s remorse, changes in body weight, and even unwanted gifts can add a lot of negativity and guilt to your life. Clearing out unworn and unloved clothes from your closet can eliminate negative feelings and rid you of unnecessary guilt. Letting go of what you no longer love, wear, or feel great in, will make you feel lighter and freer.
03. EASY TO CREATE FOOLPROOF OUTFITS
Making daily wardrobe decisions is hard. Editing down your wardrobe makes deciding what to wear easier. Not only will you have fewer clothes to choose between, but you’ll also be able to quickly coordinate outfits that look and feel great.
Think about how much time you spend flipping through your closet, looking for something you feel like wearing. By simplifying your wardrobe, you won’t need to weed through clothes you never wear. Instead, only decide between the clothes you know that work for you.
