A GUIDE TO CLOSET ORGANIZATION IN 2020

While we're all trying to get back to some sort of normal, there is no denying that the next few months will still require fewer wardrobe needs than we're used to. Although style is certainly not canceled, how we get dressed may continue to look a little different.

Nights in are the new nights out, tropical getaways have morphed into road trips and loungewear is now a form of workwear. Weekday dressing has become occasional and weekend dressing is my new norm. Therefore reprioritizing what is front and center in my closet has been key to my salvation and sanity.

A few quick clothing shifts has helped me stay organized. I get dressed more quickly, actually look pulled together and have been more productive. Check out what I did. It’s easier than you think.

UP & BACK

My closet is not that big, so I've made good use of the vertical space and harder to reach areas where I now store most of my lesser worn pieces.

First up are a few date night tops and dresses that got shifted to a rack in the back of my closet.

Sadly my nicer heels have now been moved to the highest shelf in my closet. At least I still get to look at them.

Lastly, my more elevated workwear has been repositioned to a slightly out-of-reach top rod.

FRONT & CENTER

Eye level and easily accessible storage is the name of the game for items I wear most these days. Here’s what moved to the forefront.

Lightweight transitional sweaters typically reserved for weekend errands will get more wear, especially as we move into fall, so these are now on an easy to reach shelf.

Practical crossbody bags and casual totes are my everyday go-to's, so they have been moved to more prominent hooks and shelves.

I re-purposed this basket to hold all my lounge and workout wear. I typically don't keep these clothing categories together, but they are both in high demand, so it makes sense. Plus, this system works best for my closet.
